Well, my opinion is popular with no one, but here it is: I agree that DJT is terrible, and that he is not taking the country in a good direction, and in fact, it could be irreparable, but there are Trump supporters who I still love and respect, and who are not evil or amoral people. They see things differently. They see him differently. Thank the algorithms they are more powerful than even people who talk about them realize. When people’s opinions are completely shaped by online information your neighbor could be in an entirely different country of the mind and not even realize it. I just don’t think seeing neighbors and relatives as villains because they support him is the right call. I have sometimes made dents by holding connection. It’s the only way we get through this thing in my opinion.
I get it. I just wish we could all talk to each other more and about everything I want to understand where everyone is coming from even if I disagree. I will never understand hate but this garbage seems more about power and fear than hate to me…. anyway, thx for engaging I’m here for it.
I think that part is hard for me to WANT to understand. Not necessarily the people who support for follow the current POTUS based on political affiliation— I'm talking about the ones who see the hate and don't disagree with it. Like, the ones who align with THAT part. Not the "party". I don't understand that and I don't want to understand that bc honestly? If you align with THAT part, it tells me everything I need to know.
I think some people are just choosing to be blind to it bc their party affiliation—for whatever reason— is that important to them.
But yeah... you're right. The garbage is about power and fear touching a lot of people... But it also does allow some of these people to hate and think that's okay. Not everyone. Just, the ones who do.
My sister and her family are supporters of his. I love my sister. I love my nephew and I love my niece.
It makes me sad that they can't see the hate.
They don't openly discuss the hateful rhetoric with me or anyone (that I know of at least.)
But what bothers me the most is that they also pretend like... it's isn't true.
Like it's not said or not happening... or I'm mad about people being treated unfairly for no reason.
Kind of like... they live in denial. That is my opinion and the word I choose to describe it, I guess.
However, if they approached me with the hate.
Or tried to talk to me about how it was justified or I heard them try to justify it to someone else.. I'd have a really hard time sitting with that.
So, I guess where the compromise comes is that they don't name it and I don't hate on them bc who they support is hateful. I know how to be civil and so far, so do they.
i was actually angry and i started hate reading this post but then i was genuinely surprised. you totally switched smth in my brain. this is so important!!
Okay... excuse me for one second here bc this kind of comment on something I post that made someone angry (even if just at first)... is NOT the response I get.
So, let me take a deep, deep breath really quickly.
...
If you're serious, I am... flabbergasted.
I also do not mean any harm or dismissiveness by saying that at all so please do not feel like I do!
It is absolutely shocking for someone to tell me that what I am painfully screaming about—that they don't (or won't) see— resonated with them.
That is a them problem. Not a you problem.
I am on guard bc of the responses I get anytime I open my mouth like this, just when I really only want people to see that... We aren't fighting over politics anymore, we're disagreeing on humanity. Politics have never been about that.
Something happened. Something changed. There is SO much hatred right now and it's loud.
And unnecessary.
So— to you... Thank you. I mean that completely. I am glad you understand that I'm not angry or arguing against a political party. I just want the hatred to stop being acceptable.
yeah yeah ofc not. the title was js slightly triggering because theres a whole movement on social media platforms like Instagram and such that emphasizes the IMPORTANCE of books being political and that they always have been. every form of writing is always sending a message and sides with one or the other morals which loosely connect to the politics of the world rn. there are a few people who say that books/writing are not about taking any stands while the rest of the literature community is fighting back against that notion. so, thats why your post seemed to make me angry, but when I read that you didnt mean it in that way, then I was like "Ohhh, yeah, this makes sense"
I agree. I get so frustrated by what is happening, and how so many are blind to the truth. Morality is the key. You said it better. Thank you for speaking out for truth and for what is right.
💛💛 Thank YOU for stopping by to thank ME for saying it. Often times I get told by my own husband—who agrees with my stance, btw— that "it's not worth it, you're not going to change their mind."
I know that. That's not the point.
Do I wish I could? HELL YES.
Might I actually be able to? IDK. Maybe.
What I am doing, every single time I refuse to be quiet about it though, is trying to show those who are being oppressed and hurt by what is happening that I see them. I support them. I will never condone hatred for differences in skin color/race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, religion, gender, disability, or their right to choose what has been legally upheld by the law and the Constitution since before everything went to shit. BC THAT IS NOT WHAT AMERICA IS. Simple as that.
This is what I have been screaming about! Trump, Vance, Noem, Hegseth, and their ilk are the ones who consistently make everything political and about a culture war. It's killing America, but I believe that we will heal up and get back to where we were. But, for now, these are deeply unserious people.
The only people leading the cry of "political divide" are the ones who are "in charge". And then the supporters fall in line and they say it's US (people like you and me) who are creating the divide between Republicans and Democrats.
Like.
Are we serious?
I am literally screaming about equality.
I couldn't give two shits less if you're on whatever side.
I'd absolutely call out the Democratic party if this hateful and dangerous rhetoric was being spread by them, too.
They don't believe I would.
Doesn't matter though, bc I KNOW I would.
I am glad to hear you're optimistic on the after and how we'll heal up.
I think so, too. For the most part.
But I do worry about knowing how many people (of the country) will remain in their mindset of hate bc it was allowed and promoted.
I also hate that my eyes have been opened widely to people's true colors and it's really hard to look past that even when this is all said and done.
I appreciate you stopping and commenting on this post! I always love to hear from like-minded people.
Well this is so good!
You deserve a sub!!
🫶🏻🫶🏻 Thank you so much! From the bottom of my heart!

Ah-ha! See! Surprised ya. 😉
A title threw you off... but you read anyway. You're not a headline reader, you're a full story, truth-seeker. I see you! 🫶🏻

Yes. You hit the nail on the head.
I'm right here. Screaming with you.
